Description

The low voltage uninterruptable power supply (UPS) module is available in both a 5 volt and a 12 volt version. The 5 volt UPS module is particularly useful to provide seamless backup power to microcontrollers and micro computers like Raspberry pi’s or Arduino boards. In the case of micro computers it can greatly reduce SD card corruption caused during sudden powers loss by automatically switching over to the battery backup and still providing the required 5 volt power for reliable operation. The UPS module uses a single 18650 lithium ion battery as a it’s source of backup power during power outages. When power outages continues for prolonged periods and the battery of the UPS module is close to being depleted, the UPS module will assert it’s “line” output to a low state. This “line” output can be read by a micro computer on a general purpose input/output pin which could then be used to safely power down the micro computer until the main power resumes. The 12V version can be used to supply various WIFI routers with backup power during short power outages.

Application

  • Any application requiring backup power for devices using 5 volts up to 2.3 amperes of current (For 5 volt ups module version).
  • Any application requiring backup power for devices using 12 volts up to 1 ampere of current (For 12 volt ups module version).

Features

  • Provides stable power and seamless switch over to backup power during power outages.
  • High efficiency power conversion from 77% to 85%.
  • Low battery notification via the “line” output pin.
  • High current capability, up to 2.3 amperes for 5 volt version and 1 ampere for 12 volt version.
  • Regulated output voltage, 5.2 volts for 5 volt version and 12 volts for 12 volt version.
  • Low noise and output ripple, 20mV and 2 amperes.
  • Output over current protection.
  • Battery over discharge protection (Voltage and Current).
